    The word temba (or themba, as spelt by Nkonjera) seems to be, not a proper name, but the title of the Kamanga chiefs, meaning "great"—apparently in a material sense, as it was derived from the portly presence of the chief Bamanta, who was "a very stout man." (Journal of the African Society, v.10, 1911)
